Use the wrong size and your beautiful overlay turns into a blurry, stretched mess on stream. This guide lists the exact sizes Twitch uses, so every graphic you make or buy fits perfectly the first time.
The main rule: your canvas is 1920 x 1080
Almost everything on a Twitch stream lives on a 1920 x 1080 canvas (1080p, 16:9). Set your OBS canvas to 1920 x 1080 and design or buy overlays at that size. Full-screen scenes, starting soon screens, BRB screens and ending screens should all be 1920 x 1080.
Twitch sizes cheat sheet
- Stream overlay / scenes: 1920 x 1080 px
- Webcam overlay: matches your camera frame, most commonly a 16:9 box inside the 1920 x 1080 canvas
- Offline screen (banner shown when you are offline): 1920 x 1080 px
- Profile banner: 1200 x 480 px
- Profile picture: 256 x 256 px (shown as a circle)
- Channel panels: 320 px wide (320 x 160 px is a common panel image size)
- Video thumbnail: 1280 x 720 px
What about animated overlays?
Animated scenes (starting soon, be right back, ending) are usually MP4 or WebM video files at 1920 x 1080 that loop seamlessly. WebM files are smaller, MP4 files are the most compatible. A good pack gives you both, plus a PNG still you can use as a background.
Do not upscale small graphics
A 1280 x 720 overlay stretched to 1080p will always look soft. When you buy a pack, check that the scenes are true 1920 x 1080 before you pay. Our streamer theme packs are built at exactly 1920 x 1080, with animated starting soon, BRB and ending scenes and a matching webcam frame included.
